Our volunteers at River of Love are Heroes, they are truly the force behind everything that takes place here on the weekend and during the week . We understand that many people look at the size of River of Love Community and think they can’t possibly make a difference, the truth is you can.
God’s vision for this church is to connect, renew and grow all people in Christ. We cannot fulfill that vision without our volunteers. Everyone can make a difference, and that includes you. God is changing hundreds of lives every week at River of Love Community, and behind every changed life are the faces of our volunteers. Whether it’s helping guests find a seat, holding an infant, operating sound system or anything in between, our volunteers are connectors to the power of Christ. There is simply no greater joy than to know you are used by God in a way that makes an eternal impact on others. Go ahead and jump into volunteering and become a part of what God is doing through River of Love. It’s a decision you won’t regret.
How do I volunteer at River of Love? Simply talk to the Pastor or one of the Elders and we will begin the process of connecting you to the right area of ministry here at River of Love.
In all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:37-39
Since the beginning of time, people have always been tempted to do their own thing. When doing our own thing contradicts God’s will, His plans, or His desires for our life, we find ourselves separated from God. Willful separation from God is a simple definition of sin.
John 3:16 says that God loves the world and He doesn’t want us to be separated from Him. This verse describes that separation as “perishing” or suffering. In other words when we are separated from God we are disconnected from the ultimate source of life. That means the end result of that separation is death. But God wanted humanity to live forever in relationship with him. So he sent His Son, Jesus to help us understand God’s will and to reconnect us back to God giving us the ability to live forever.
The most amazing part about Jesus coming to earth was his willingness to “perish” or suffer in our place. He took the result or penalty of sin upon himself, and willingly went to a cross to die in our place so we would never have to experience death as a permanent separation from God. In fact he proved that physical death would not be permanent by rising from the dead himself (Romans 5).
His death and resurrection cleared the only possible path for all humanity to return to a relationship with God. That’s why He said that He was the only way to God (John 14:6) because nobody has ever made the path back to God more accessible. The amazing thing is that the reason He did that, was simply because He loved you!
"Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated,
but rather be healed."
Hebrews 12:12-13
